When it comes to your romance, it’s important to set and communicate healthy and balanced expectations. Healthful expectations focus on the positive aspects of the relationship and not the bad. You and your partner both have completely different priorities and may even have different anticipations of each various other. It’s important to communicate clearly about these differences so that you can both work towards a healthy relationship.

Unsafe expectations are often a result of unconscious pain or insecurities. These issues can be related to unmet needs in your youth, such as desertion, abuse, or neglect.
